Corsa 1.0 12v Temp gauge .....

Post by Lincs Robert6 »

Hi,

The temp gauge on my 2000 X10XE isn't working very well. Unless the car gets quite hot the display just sits at the cold end.

Replaced the sender with and brand new one and it's made no difference.

The car gets warm - plenty of hot air from the heater.

Any ideas?

Thanks - Rob

My 1.4 is doing much the same, I am leaning toward a thermostat stuck open. The car will get warm but not as hot as it should as it constantly circulates between the radiator and the engine if the thermostat doesn't close. Mine never quite gets to the 90 and although the hot air is warm it's never as hot as eperience says it should be.

If it has just started doing it it maybe a faulty stat or if it's done it since you got the car it may not even have a stat in it, that could mean other problems.

Only had the car a couple of weeks, so might fit a new stat and see what happens ............

Sorted. It was the thermostat. Temp now gets upto 92 and sits there. Gets hotter, as it should, and then tha fan kicks in and cools it down again. Heater also gets HOT, as opposed to just warm.

I also flushed the cooling system, blanked off the EGR valve and refilled with GM's finest Red coolant/antifreeze..

So, fingers crossed it will run better and might even do better MPG as a consequence.

Thanks - Rob
