Ok so this is a rant jump to **** to skip boring parts if you wish
So long story short was turning right at a roundabout and car went crazy skidding across the roundabout , took it into garage near to me and guy was a bit of a cowboy still don't know what he did to this day track rod end or something 'apparently' , wasn't happy with this so took it into another garage a more well known one who is spoke highly of in my area, turns out was tracking and something to do with steering and said other guy should have noticed how bad it was cracks and all apparentlu ,(have you figured out i'm a girl yet? ) anyway he fixed all that and got it back on Friday , so I gets a taxi home from work straight to the car and jump in it put engine on and boom ! on pops the oil pressure light, stupid me makes a small journey before checking what it was after journey checked what it was ok oil was low so then put in some oil , light stayed on for a while after this so comes Monday I gets my dad to phone the garage again and now have to wait till Friday till get it in again, now a friend of mine who has little experience says it might be a hole in the exhaust, now I don't know a lot about cars infact anything about cars but when you pop the bonnet the noise seems like its coming from the belt to the left of the engine (video soon) with a bit of googling I think this is timing belt/chain I don't even know if thats the same thing or different ? Seems like this is a massive job i'm just 20 , owned the car approx a month and now I am put off the car altogher any ideas ?
*** Belt left of engine is making a loud noise, what could it be? Video to follow......
Details : corsa envoy 12v 97

Mine does on my 1ltr... Many peoples on here would make the same noise i wouldn't have thought it was anything bad but you could just get a new one fitted and the noise would stop me thinks

i would say its the timing chain they are very common on the corsa's. this is probs why the oil light come on, we had one in work not that long ago. to get the chain done is expensive but its a lot less than you would have to pay if it snaps this could cause serious engine damage.
so my advice would be get it to a garage asap to get it checked.

Re: Think my timing chain/belt might be about to go ?
you defo have a chain i can tell from the video and they dont do that engine with a belt. a belt is a service item whis means its changed about every 4 years i think. but a chain dose not realy get changed unless you have a problem with it and on the corsa its a very common problem they get loud on all corsas that have them. this is caused by them streching a bit allowing them to slap about. its normally better to have a car with a chain as you probs wont have to get it changed but this is not the case on a corsa.

A noisy chain is symptomatic of poor oil change intervals over the cars service history. The only way around it is a new chain and any decent garage should be able to give you a price for the job.
