Engine light and power loss

Post by Corsaswe »

I have a problem with my Corsa B X10XE 1998.
This happens quite often when driving in speeds above 90 kmph.
The engine management light lits up and the engine loses power. With
the light on I can barely maintain 80 kmph. At first it seemed that the light
eventually turn off itself at random, and the engine went back to normal, but I then
discovered that it happens when I release the gas pedal and then push it back
down. And if I slightly move the gas pedal up and down all the time I can avoid
the problem almost completely when driving on a flat road. As soon as I go uphill
it gets harder to avoid even with the gas pedal trick. Under 90 kmph it usually
happens when I accelerate hard. It almost never happens under 50 kmph.

This is the fault code read:

P0130 Not Present
(2) O2 Sensor Circuit Voltage Low

Searching around the internet, it seems like it could be the MAF sensor.
Any ideas?

Check out my project log for a run down of my probelms with this issue.
I had removed and cleaned my old Throttle body, so i loved knowing it was spotless, butterfly valve etc. i think all it needed was a new ICU,
but the mechanic wouldnt hear anything i had to say about cars. in the end he reaplaced the whole throttle body with a 2nd hand one with ICU etc, who knows it probably came with a throttle position sensor etc. i havnt brought myself to remove it and check how dirty it is. but id love to clean that butterfly valve etc. I still need to lower my Revs also.

Maybe over xmas break from work.

Thanks for the replies.

It turned out the problem was a crack on the catalytic converter. Air leaked in and interfered with the lambda sensor. The car runs perfectly now.
