Clean Engine & Strippage...

Post by PaulW »

Well did what was needed for a few weeks today, and that was clean my engine!

Since it decided to piss all its oil over itself in a hissy-fit when the oil filler cap came loose, its been a right state!

I didn\'t take a before pic tho :( the only pics I have of it all mucky are from when I did the oil change...

So after a good spray with some GUNK Engine Degreaser & a good hosing-down... came up all nice :D

Also thought I\'d take some piccies of the \'strippage\'

I used an ice scraper to get the rear stuff off  was one of those cheapy carplan 69p jobbies from tesco\'s...

Rear was simple, just slide it under & prise it all off, takes some time tho! I had trouble with the area above the exhaust though on the rear, either cos of heat-soak setting the tar, or cos the weight of the sub compacted it down I don\'t know, but it was a bugger!

Still got to remove the tar pads from the drivers & passengers footwells & the centre turret, but there pretty damn solid!!!

Simon - I used nearly half a can of GUNK on ym engine  actually washed it twice it was that bad!!

Next step... Try to polish the rocker cover while its still on the engine using a Dremel & a polishing bit :lol:

Looking good, I need to finsih off stipping mine, headlining out and ali plate over the sunroof.

If you\'re after soem blue bucket seats and harness\'s I\'ll have some going spare soon enough 8)

Oh, you can remove the whole secondry air pump bit on the manifold of you make up a little teardrop bit of ali or steel plate, then a new gasket and copper grease, then do the bolt up like a mofo, mine never blew :)

I also went back to the full on massive plastic oil filler cause I got bored of burning myself taking it off. Plus if you try and wedge it on backwards you get a nice plumb after some high revs action pissing oil out of it.
