Corsa GSI Restoration Project :D

Post by bluecorsab »

Hello again peeps, long time no speak, new project for you all to feast your eyes on

as some of you may already know i recently won a red corsa gsi on ebay for a bargain :P

went to pick it up and it drove back perfectly without a hitch

engine bay is pretty clean for the milage 8)

the body kit is all in one bit except there is 2 jacking covers mising, no doubt someone nicked them at some point in its life

the rear bumper wants repainting but i think im going to redo the whole kit as the arches are faded and the spoiler has laquer peel quite bad

few spots of rust in normal places, no big problem

worst bit is on the drivers door

Image

engine out, borrowed a crane from my dads to get it out

Image

whipped the clutch off and its still good and original GM too

had a look down the inlet side of the engine and there is no burnt oil in there so no probelms with valve stem seals either

got myself some chrome gearbox bolts

Image

its all about the little touches :D

and went to pick up my engine stand from djbrowney

got it back and had to remove the flywheel to get it on but no problem

makes things so much easier though being on a stand

started to give it a bit of a clean and its coming up pretty nice now

nearly ready for some paint now :)

Image

Image

got the engine all cleaned down and painted in high temp paint, black on the block and silver on the cylinder head

did the face of the cam pulleys to, then started bolting stuff back on once it was cleaned

Image

Image

back of the engine pretty much put back together

Image

gearbox cleaned and painted

brought a new inlet pipe and fitted it, the old one had a split in it near the air flow meter

Image

exhaist manifold and downpipe taken off the car and fitted to the engine, just needs a bit of a clean down and a new heatshield fitting to tidy it up

Image

flywheel and clutch was then fitted and gearbox put back on with the chrome bolts

Image

plan is to put as much back on the engine as possible, remove the tiebars and install the engine in one bit, can paint the tiebars, uprights etc then

going to be doing some prep work in the bay this weekend and painting up the engine mounts

sorry if it looks a bit of a mess as i just copy and pasted it from another forum

thats where im upto now so will update more when it happens, i promise :D
