hey guys, ive changed my alternator coz my other one had died, ive taken other one off and put new one on, but i cant compress the spring for the belt tensioner
do any of you guys have any tips for doing this? i cant get hold of a spring compressor, and ive tryed screwdrivers, and all sorts =/ any help would be appreciated

if this is what i think it is, ie the tensioner on the auxillery belt, you put a spanner on the bolt sticking out the side, you will find that twisting it one way will move the pulley, best way to tension them is to put it over everything else first and alternator last

what i done was i put the belt on whilst the tentioner was off, put a screwdriver behind the spring to loosen the tension then i was able to put the bolt through for the tentioner, was quite easy to do actually, just had to try like a million different things first haha!
