not filling me with bags of confidance here folks :(
i start this soon on the 4th and have 7 days to do it all with the help of my mate and myself.
i have all the parts ordered so im hoping its just a case of removing, cleaning, fitting and replacing.

----------------------------

hope to get the engine out on the 4th and leave it in to the place that will skim it that evening.
Skim, test, valve seals all work on it done on the 5th, pick up on the 6th

while head is in on the 5th, work on the brakes, cleaning of parts etc.

Rebuild on the 6th / 7th, replace parts / gastkets etc painting.

8th for anything that still needs done. Finishing up

9th and 10th as spare days for any set backs.

----------------------------

Is there any positive points anyone would like to add. i could use the confidance boost. :-|

Day 1

Got the car jacked up, and the head out. Had some job removing one of the cam cog bolts as it was on the brink of shearing off.
Droped the head down to get skimed tested and valve seals fitted and valves lapped for £100 and its gona be tight but i need it back by friday evening or else i wont get it back untill Wednesday because they will be closed Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue. If that happens the plan is Screwed / Disaster.

Apart from that, everything else went to plan today, Fingers crossed next few days go as smooth.

Cheers Jamie,

ment to also add to the above post. the head gasket on the car when we removed it. it was 2 thin bits of metal on top of each other, as if it was 2 metal head gaskets. very strange, would this have been vauxhaul standard or a bodge job from someone in the past ??? il grab a photo 2mora to show.

also the manifold gasket was another thin bit of metal. the new one is a thicker sliver looking one.

Going to start work on the lower end of engine 2mora, Gear box, clutch etc. Just make it up as we go along

some head gaskets are usualy made of a few layers of thin metal stuck together, they've probally just come apart as you lifted head off

DAY 2

This pic is from before in this project, we came across it again today when the block was out. it was very brittle and fell apart. Seems to be a rubber bung on the lower end of the engine, but i dont know what its called to get a replacement, so i might have to cut a small bit of metal and silicone it into place.
Can anyone please tell me what this is ?? ive searched all over google and the Haynes manual and still cant find it.
