Hi Guys,
Car been running fine, then last night tried to start it and it turns over but won't fire.
Called out the Breakdown people who said it needs a new Crankshaft Sensor.
Wanted to know if it likely to be anything else?
As they are going to tow me to a parts place to get it fitted, don't want to be stuck without a car, if the new crankshaft doesn't resolve it.
Parts place charging £25 for the sensor and £20 to fit it, which is fine, but don't want to waste it of course.
Any help, much appreciated.
Thanks
Scott

Common fault on them.
While I can't say absolute that it will fix it cos every car is different...
Had the same fault on mine, replaced the sensor and it worked without fail

Car won't start? Crankshaft Sensor?
Mine was idle control valve that made it impossible to start. Try pumping the throttle and turn key at same time if it starts could be idle control valve
2.0lt redtop wouldnt fit down the chimney so santa gave me socks

Re: Car won't start? Crankshaft Sensor?
It is in the garage at the moment.....
Breakdown guy came out charged the battery and then it started, thought great just a dead battery.....drove it for half hour to charge it fully, then went out about an hour later and it was fine.
Then went out about an hour later, wouldn't start again.....called breakdown, took him 45mins to get there, tried it....SODS LAW....it started, can't rely on it though!!
If it was the Crankshaft sensor, I would expect the EML light, which isn't on, and for it to never start, now seems to start sometimes and othertimes not!
Pumping the throttle while starting made no difference unfortunately.....
Waiting for garage to come back to me today
Any further ideas??

I never had the eml light come on with mine.
I think it only comes on when a fault occures while driving
Also mine used to be fine starting cold but not if the engine was warm...
Howrver bump starting the car worked everytime

Sounds like you had the same trouble as me.
Looking more likely to be the Crankshaft sensor then.....
Thanks Again!
