White Van Man :)

Post by gazza_no7 »

Got my van so thought i might as well make a project log! this is going to be a slow and long project as im poor... but ill keep you all updated as much as i can!

Its got a 1.7TDI engine, its got 125k miles on which i dont think is too bad?

So this is how i got it, poo hole i know lol

It needed a clean so i did my best with what i had and washed it tonight, its still dirty because it just wouldn't come off... seems like its never been cleaned lol

My plans with it are to mainly clean it up and get the paint back to a nice shiny white :P but my full list is:

New 17" alloys (16" don't look big enough...)
De-Badged grill
Smoked Headlights
Spoiler
Exhaust system - Back box, Straight through mid section, pre-cat de-cat
Panel air filter
De-restrict air box
Re-map
Fit a boost gauge
Lower 40mm front and back
De-wiper rear window
De-badge everything
Get rust fixed up all around and a few new panels
Colour code - Door handles, Side Strips, Rear bumper, Mirror covers, Side skirts, Boot handle
Some new interior (front and rear seats)
Re-ply out the rear to make space for the rear seats
Head lining from a Mk4 Estate and spray it black
Spray cream plastics black

If anyone has any tips or information they want to share feel free :) and feel free to leave comments if you like or don't like as i would like to know :)

Best stuff to use is G3 compound it's way better than t-cut and way way faster!

Great choice of vehicle :) I will look forward to the pics tomorrow. I found Autoglym Paint Renovator very effective too on improving paint by hand.
