x12sz compression readings

Post by N1ck0 CB98 »

Morning all,

I am wanting to perform a compression test on my poorly engine to determine wheather the piston rings are fried or the valves are damaged, however in the haynes manual I cannot for the life of me find what the compression should be for the cylinder reading. All I have found is the compression ratio of 10.0:1 which doesnt tell me how much bar each cylider is putting out.

help please? :S

well if they are friend the readings will be totally different, you need help from a friend to turn the key and hold throttle pedal flat to the floor, but all four readings should be exactly the same give or take a few psi due to normal wear but any large abnormal readings are bad news really. why what makes you sure that its an internal problem?

Don't know but they WILL BE THE SAME give or take, just do it and see what you get. By the sounds of it the valve stem seals want changing and you have wear In you're bores which is causing oil to get past your rings, tbh dude unless you do a complete engine rebuild and a bore out you might as well just stick with it otherwise it can become expensive :/
