Re: hid kit help please
more improtantly are they legal? have you checked the new restrictions for MOTS regarding HID kits?
OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts
Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

Re: hid kit help please
think for these to be legal, you have to have both headlight washers, and self levelling suspension or something stupid.

Re: hid kit help please
Just reading this thread and hid kits are legal but u do need to get the right ones for ya car so on corsas it would be h4 with high and low and u lights have to be set right or u can dazzle the on coming traffic cud they give a clearer beam out than standard halogen bulbs and tbh they ain't that hard to fit they come with instructions follow them u cant go wrong my mate put 6000k on his Mitsubishi gto and never got pulled and past the mot with them
If it ain't green and black send it back

Re: hid kit help please
This thread is so old mate! Aha but I have to disagree with you as you have to have headlight washers with hid kits and they are illegal if using in standard halogen headlights as the light pattern scatters too much

Re: hid kit help please
Really looked it up first and never said any of that tbh and did see it was an old thread lmao but like i sed we fitted them in a Mitsubishi gto on the original lights and never got pulled or questioned on mot so is that why most are plastic covers and not glass ?

Re: hid kit help please
It depends how the light pattern ends up being like but they are illegal to be put into halogen headlights. Also the hid lamp creates a lot of heat and can melt plastic light covers (why headlight washers are needed). Using a glass cover like on the corsa b the lines and ridges in the lense help defuse the light to create a light pattern, clear lenses create a different pattern so I'm not sure if that's why they passed or not aha

Re: hid kit help please
There is nothing in the mot handbook about needing washers or self leveling, most hids that look very bright are either 55w which is illegal or in a jeep,
If you have 35w hids in your car and there a legal colour the only thing that can be failed is allignment, All this information is online on genuine mot website,
Its the blue tint from hids that disorientate people imo, since i went from 8000k to 6000k the amount of people that flashed was halfed and i never changed the allignment atall, and i know.loads and loads of cars with hids retro fitted including my own that have never been failed or pulled for them

If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Re: hid kit help please
So to sum it up then it must be a hid kit with a 35w and not a 55w
