DIY Air Con Repair

Post by blaney5 »

Hi Guys,

I have a bent A/C condenser rad on my 1.4 16v sport corsa and I want to change it but with minimal cost. I have seen a few condensers on eBay but was not sure how easily/possible it would be without the use of a garage. TBH I don't really want it in but it looks very scruffy for a resale.

Anyone tried it or done it on there own?

Been trying to search various forums but not come up with anything solid yet.

Cheers :D

Easy to change. Same as any other plumbing. Get the sytem degassed professionally. People degassing diy have recived severe frost burns and blindness if getting the gas in their eyes. Change the part then get a regas. I had a good air con company in crawley that did my degassing for free when I had to change parts on mine based on the fact I was going back for the regas and leak test

Cool,

Thanks for the quick reply :) I'll get the degassing done by a pro. Anything in particular to watch out for when doing it?

Just take it slow and don't stress any pipework. If you have to leave pipes unsupported use a bit of garden wire/etc to tie it up till reconnected.
