Handbrake Cable

Post by wo88les »

Failed MOT today after everything was going so well, the Handbrake Cable is too worn, i need some advice / guidance on finding the correct cable and replacing it,

from the ratchet to middle is ok, its where it splits to the rear wheels is where i need

so 1xL and 1xR Handbrake Cable

sites are really confusing, as far as im aware i have a 1.0 12v and im almost sure its a MKII (mk1 is shown as 1.0i 12v)

problem is i can only find this set
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-CORS ... 19d5b2408f

which says its not compatible with mine,

please help :D

Go to a motorfactors and give them your car reg and tell them what you need
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Might aswell do both of them. Yea I did fit them myself but im a mechanic. There not hard to fit if ur confident but £30 ain't bad to get them fitted.

yeah im fairly confident mate, :D im guessing if i jack the car up one side at a time i should be able to do it, going in blind is doing to be slightly tough, but im sure if i get the missus to play with the handbrake before in start undoing things ill be able to work out what i need to remove :D

on a quick note what tools will i need??? i obviously have a wheel brace, but would i need spanner or socket set??

Yea I did one side at a time mate. U need to take the drums off they are held on with a 24mm with a split pin throught it. When u do this back up dont do it tight just nip it up i would replace the split pin. U will need a 11mm spanner for the adjuster if u cant get it undone u might need a new one there only like £4 from vauxhall.
If u get stuck just give me a shout mate.
Where abouts are u to?
