Gears Help!

Post by Snooperdoodles »

Hello,

I have recently purchased a W reg corsa this is my first car and was fine when i bought it.
After riding it around for a few days with no problems at all with gear sellecting i starting having problems with my gears first it was the reverse gear it would grind when i tried to select it but would go in if i crunched it in (so i tried not to use it as much) but now it wont go in to any of the top gears this being 1st, 3rd and 5th but it will go in to 2nd and 4th.
has anybody got any ideas on what the problem could be? thank you :) :)

Gear linkage possibly
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

If it was the clutch all gears would be the same and you cant really tighten a clutch
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

i agree with johnny on this, defo sounds like your gear linkage is worn out, its a common problem with corsa b's, look on ebay and you will find replacement ones that are metal.

try tightening the clutch cable on top of the gearbox, looks like threaded rod with a nut on I think

How much travel do you have on the clutch pedal, and is it raised (closer to you) compared to the brake pedal?

If you just bought it, could be that wherever you got it from has adjusted the cable to compensate for a worn clutch, so ideally if you just got it and from a dealer, take it back and get them to sort it, otherwise be prepared for it being the clutch.
