losing coolant

Post by scoob8254 »

hi, this is my first post on this forum so go easy on me :P

im losing coolant but only at a slow rate, their is no white smoke or white crap in the oil..

one thing i have noticed is my radiator doesnt seem to get hot, their is pressure in the pipes above and to the right of the radiator and the pipes are quite hot (not red hot) but there is definatly pressure in them. but the radiator is still cool to the touch.. ive also noticed a small damp patch to the bottom left of the radiator directly under where the hose comes out of the radiator on the bottom left..

my question is where abouts is the thermostat and could it be this thats causing the problem, or is it that my radiator is blocked or something else..

any advice greatly appreciated

Hello and welcome :) I have the same problem tbh... I am getting a damp patch at the bottom left (when looking at the front of the car) so I'm just getting a new rad :)

juat about to create a new thread so thought would update this one as well, although a bit late..

fitted a new jubilee clip to the radiator outlet hose which fixed the leak on the left hand side of the radiator, but was still losing coolant although at a slower rate.. after getting under the car the only damp bit anywhere near the radiator was around the fan switch screwed into the radiator on the lower right... eurocarparts had the easter 50% sale on so thought would take advantage and just replace the radiator altogether, managed to get a radiator for £34 and fitted it myself the same day.. its been a few weeks and since then ive not lost a single bit of coolant so looks like job done..
