Blanking the egr valve

Post by Paul666 »

Hello searched for a answer but cant quite find one so hoping someone can help.. Took my egr valve of and going to clean it and am thinking of blanking it off engine code is x 14sz 1.4 SOHC the egr itself has the valve with a hole next to that bout size of a 5 pence and 5 little holes around the edges.. My qeusation is what part is it you blank off ie the hole thing or just the 5 pence sized hole... And whats the reason for the other small holes roughly size of a small screw head.. Thanks in advance guys:)

Blanking egr off was not the best of ideas iv had lol throttle response was better but the detonation became worse. So took plate off and just cleaned up egr valve and also noticed fuel spillage around the fuel injector thing directly under airbox behind egr valve so cleaned that up and tightened down torx screws and things seem to be better ATM... Checked timing belt and on longest run i can twist it slightly more than 90 degrees. Anyone knoow how much slack there should be on longest pulley run??

Blanking egr shoudnt case any down side you sure you didnt block the water bit ?? Leak was more than likly what was causeing probs in th first place , shudn be able to turn it to 90 shud b tight before that on most cars but not fimilar with your engine so cant say for sure but if it fells weak id change it for peace of mind

Still getting the pinkiing is a million times less noticeable with egr not blanked tho... So goinna change timing belt as im sure its got a bit too much slack in it.. Ya know any easy ways to get the crank pulley bolt off and what type of bolt it is?? Also what type of bolt is on the waterpump??
