Hi folks,
Ive got a 96 Corsa 1.2 with 52k on the clock.
Recently when doing a 400 mile round trip a droning noise appeared from nowhere. It gets noticeable from about 30mph onwards and happens if the car is in gear or freewheeling so Im assuming its a wheel bearing? Im going to jack it up and see if theres any obvious play etc but if it is the bearing is it OK/safe to drive on until I get a new one? Thanks,
Andy

Re: Droning noise when driving
If the bearing collapses it will lock the wheel so far from safe but it should be fine for a day or two
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

I wouldn't worry too much about droning noises when you are driving, but if you hear a lot of whining then it is time to get rid of the girlfriend.
