Exhaust

Post by scoob8254 »

Hi, just fitted a new rear silencer as my old one fell off, literally..

I twisted the box before tightening and was about 3 inches of clearance above rear axle, but I'm still getting a bang when going over speed bumps,

how many hangers are suppose to be underneath a corsa b as I couldn't see any except for the two rubber brackets at the rear silencer, and is it possible to easily add a hanger as I used firegum when fitting the silencer and don't fancy trying to twist the rear silencer any more

Cheers
Craig

Is the exhaust hitting the rear axle or the speed bumbs
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

pretty sure its hitting the rear axle, its only now and again, but its annoying the hell out of me, does it more if there is more then me in the car and only if i hit a big speed bump..

just seemed strange i didnt see a single exhaust hanger under there, but this is my first corsa so dont know if there is suppose to be any

There are no hangers in the corsa and the exhaust hitting the axle is a common problem due to it lol

But you can try getting new exhaust rubbers to stop it bouncing or poly bushes if you have the extra money,

Or buy an aftermarket bracket and fit it
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Check that the clamp on the join is not hitting the axle try moving it up a bit

My exhaust is well above the axle and starts making a racket when it heats up after about 10 minutes of driving (it's vibrating and rattling against something)... My local mechanic suggested taking the whole lot off and shifting it a couple of inches more towards the front :/
