well, johnny wrote:Thats unreal mpg, as good as some diesel most i seem to get is 40-45 mpg

i drive to to work 30mins motor way drive away about 27miles there. then 30mins drive home again.
so im doing 60miles a day minimum. 5 Days a week that's. 300miles a week. for the past 2 years.
If i drive sensibly and stick to 60Mph and keep the Revs around 3000 there and back that's how im achieving it.
Ive seen weeks were ive stuck the boot down and doing 70/80 over taking BMW, Mercs and everything else in between and it slashes that MPG in half.
Also if it helps my fuel price is 1.35 at the moment. so i fill £50 in one go, and i get about 37 liters.
Divide number of liters by 4.54 to get gallons, divide mileage by gallons to get MPG.
so 37 divide by 4.54 = 8.14
410 divide by 8.14 = 49/50mpg
my wee car used to have such low millage, its on about 74,000 i think at the moment. really racked up the millage over the past two years

I get 40 mpg mainly town runs but if traffic is bad i can get 20 some weeks, which is unbelivably sore on the wallet lol
Considering my car has 129000 miles on it im happy with 40

Re: Corsa B 1999 1.2 16V "1-7-11"
whats a good suspension to go for lads ?
i don't want to go any lower than 40mm.
i could do with replacing the lot to be honest so was thinking coil-overs instead of springs.
budget would be about £200.
Our the ebay ones any good ?
Something along these lines ? or what else is recommended ?
Pro Sport - £200

Blue line - £150

Re: Corsa B 1999 1.2 16V "1-7-11"
Came accross a "Badboy bonnet" needs prep'ed and painted but i think the metal work has been completed which would be the hardest part.
all i have to worry about is...
Reseating the Water tubes (which i needed to do anyway cause mine are blocked and i cant access them under the skin)
Prep & Paint ( needed mine done anyway due to rust, so may as well start with this new one )
Just a wee shed project for me.
oh, it cost £30 pics to come when its bought just to be safe

If you're only going to be running 40mm I would suggest springs, there's some cheap ones on corsasport, some good brand ones aswell! save your pennies for a big mod pal, keep up the good work fellascorpiotn1 wrote:whats a good suspension to go for lads ?

Just buy a cheap 40mm lowering kit off eBay with shocks and springs, lowering on springs make the ride like a boat it's awful! Aha think there around £150 brand new

Well,
Few options then...
1. Standard shocks with 40mm springs front and back is going to give a boat like feel and its bad for the shocks.
2. Uprated and shortened shocks with 40mm springs ( will this give a boat like feel ? )
3. Full set of Coil-overs ( bit more expensive but probably the better option out of the three and lets me tweak the ride hide if needed.
Also i picked up the bad boy bonnet today for £30. needs some work done to it. seems to be covered in rubbery black paint ( that's what it feels like anyway )
heres the pics...

Springs with shortend shocks should have a firm feeling to the car,
Bonnet looks good, looks like it was plasti dipped

Yea,
its going to need sanded back, and some filler in places then some barcoat to isolate any paint that was under it before me, that should stop paint reaction.
Then good few layers of primer and then get it sprayed Arden Blue again.
Going to try and buy the paint and take it to a family friend who does spray painting and body work for a living, see if we will let me use his spray gun for the day maybe show me some tips.

Re: Corsa B 1999 1.2 16V "1-7-11"
Not sure at the moment, but these are on the cards,
1. fit back box
2. fit new rear wiper motor
3. remove bump strips up the side
4. use windscreen bond to re-stick a section of skirt.
5. re-stick section of front license plate
6. get to work on the bonnet, sanding down with 320 grit ( perhaps buy cheap orbital sander )
7. check passenger side rear wheel in case bearings are loose (was recommended by a mate who noticed it was loose and tightened it for MOT )
8. buy new washer bottle motor assembly
9. buy Mist washer jets for mod
10. buy MK4 Astra white repeaters
11. buy replacement blue LED blubs for center dash console
12. consider buying white speed dials ( not sure yet )
13. buy 40mm lowering springs and uprated short shocks or set of coil-overs
14. buy set of smoked front Depo's ( Front driver side adjustment motor is broken when lights are on, makes buzz sound but doesn't move )
15. Repaint rear drums blue and front brakes ( consider replacing rear drums for new and un-rusted )
16. consider buying boot piston arms ( as mine have no resistance )
17. paint metal of rear seat in boot black as it has some surface rust.
18. try and figure out how to stop oil leak ( convinced im loosing oil by dripping only when driving, don't think its burning away/off )
19. Use Mantas cleaning products and McGuire's Compound on body work, and perhaps paint rust spots to restore rust spots on car panels
20. Keep car clean and looking good.
