Lisburn.

My passenger side skirt at the front wheel had started to slip a bit due to all the heat we had during the summer.
so when i got home today from work, i started to pick at the sealant with my house key.

well, i kept picking at it and i had to bite the bullet and go get the new wind screen bond i bought and restick it.

OH MY GOD WHY DID I START ! what a mess that stuff is AGHrr

Its one of them jobs your trying to do a nice neat job on, but the stuff comes out thick so you replace the cap with a slimer one from the shed which helped but its still messy and now its starting to rain and im getting frustrated at it.

Long story short i have it propped up now over night so i hope to god it sticks and looks clean and holds. cause i dont want it flying off on my way to work on the motorway.

P.S - i sprayed some primer and matt black on the car bonnet in the shed, i can see its all rough and needs a good sand and maybe some filler to smooth it out. cant wait to get started on it. but its been raining and i head to France for a holiday in a week. Im hoping to get the Back box fitted before i go.

Checked on the skirt this morning and its stuck in place nicely :)
i can maybe go around now and add wee dabs of the stuff tidying up all the trim as i go get it looking cleaner

when i got under i seen alot of oil leakage never seen it from this angle before, it looked to be mainly coming from the drivers side, behind the lower timing chain wheels perhaps, id say the engine seals are well done and need replacing. prob why water is mixing into oil etc, would explain alot. this engine is gona need to be striped and all seals replaced and cleaned down for sure. god knows what the insides look like. (i also took this time to check for anything out of place which would explain the rattle sound but couldnt find anything)

What is this part ? as it didnt look in the best shape ( rear crank oil seal ? )

....
Can anyone locate the rubber bung seal in the bottom picture, its just a service inspection hatch bung i think. X12XE engine. its like a square round shape.

its an old post from my project. i need to replace it cause the bung was all cracked and i ripped it out and binned it. i have an empty gap there now. its not doing any real harm but id rather fill it. cant find the name of it, and cant find one on the internet at all.

Started to remove the door strips today, got the driver door side done.
There was no rust under there thank god, just left with glue.
then went to find a Toffee wheel in B&Q but no joy, so going to order one to clean up the gunk.
then have to do the passenger side too ;)

Driving around hobo style for a while i guess lol.

did you use the clips to fix the skirts on or did you just seal them on?

Small update

I've added another layer of high temp paint to the back box that's about 4/5 coats now. Going to stick it in the boot so when I'm ready I can drive over and get it fitted. Would be good to get it done this week as I'm off to France for a week. Also can't wait to get this toffee wheel and finish the job of removing the bump strips.
