exhaust + side skirts

Post by gazza_no7 »

Couple of questions

Will the Cat off of a 1.2L bolt onto a 1.0L? Im asking this as the centre section i have is too short and i have read that the down pipe on the 1.2L is longer? Also i have a backbox i want to fit but it fits on the 1.2L and above... (i would be buying a new cat + mid section to go with the backbox.)

I have just got some side skirts and they need a little bit of work...
There is loads of layers of paint, just sand it all off?
They are bowed/bent (not straight). How do i fix this?
How do i fill in the screw holes? Just use some fibre glass and then filler?
The metal bar inside is broken and rusty. Should i just remove this?

Also whats the best way to prep: Arches, bumper tops and side skirts for spraying gloss black with a rattle can?

Not sure if the cat will fit the 1 and 1.2 exhaust are different sizes and shaped different
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Doesn't look like a lot of difference accept the end of the 1.0L has been clamped to be smaller? Also when i got the car i think it had a 1.2 fitted as when i tried fitting a 1.0 sportex straight through it wouldnt fit over the down pipe as it wasnt clamped... so i am really not sure

The 1.0 looks like its bent more and the 1.2 looks 90
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Does this sound right to you?

42mm Internal diameter (with slats cut into it)
50mm Outer diameter (no slats)

The 50mm will be getting clamped in the backbox which has an Internal diameter of 52mm. The 42mm will be getting clamped onto the centre section. The OD of the centre section end is 40mm so is it correct that i would need a 42mm for it to be able to go over and be clamped?
