Look so much better now:) orange repeater looks out of place now
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

I need some help folks,

my windscreen wiper fuse 30amp keeps blowing. Ive gone through 3 so far. 1 on Friday night, then i didn't drive car until Monday and it blew again ! then i replaced it at lunch and same thing.

i take it the motors might be stiff ? or there may be some other problem ?
im gonna spray some WD-40 on them and loosen the bolt a touch to see if that helps.

p.S my back wiper motor is still jammed but i never turn it on but it is still connected.

Any advice as i need this fixed tonight.

Check for breaks in wire and bad earths, only reason the fuse would blow is faulty motor, switch or cable so you just have to check the motor and switch and hope its not the wiring

Ok so I plugged a fuse in on way home I think wiper came on once and I turned it off then when I checked it was blown too. So it seems to blow it even if its not going.

Ok so I checked the washer pump wire and added bit more electrical tape. Got my passenger side fog working again. Got the driver side headlight motor to stop as its faulty.

Replaced the fuse again and turned wipers on once an off straight away waited few seconds and blue flash. It blew again.

Where should I be looking for shorts / bad earth.

If you leave them on will it blow? Just how you said it blew after it was switched off, check the switch and put a multi meter on it to see what its doing

Yea it will still blow. If left on ( don't wana waste a fuse testing that) I don't have a multi meter.

Should I loosen the wiper nuts slightly ?

Either the motors are packing in (but every time I replace fuse they work fine)

Or

Bad earth but don't know where it is. Under the scuttle ?

Or

Faulty switch leaver in steering column ?

I think its an earth or the switch, but earth would be where id look first,

Think it is under the scutle but unsure

ok,

Fitted new motor - Fuse blew.

Dismantled steering column and light switch panel to check wires - nothing seemed out of place.

Removed Wiper switch and opened it up to inspect - Thought it was water and thought it was causing a short, but it was grease.

started to worry it was electrical issue and couldn't track it down - rang a few mechanic mates for advice, arranged to meet electrical mechanic in the morning.

Thought there was no point putting everything back properly if mechanic was going to open it all up again in the morning - was going to make it tidy looking at least and refit the wiper motor cover in the engine bay, but went in to grab bite to eat.

Came back out and instead of tidying up the car for the night, decided while i was at it to fit the rear wiper motor - works 100%

Then i started to think - the rear wiper runs on the same fuse ( why the hell is it not blowing, problem must be the front wiring or something else)

Removed the cable going into the new wiper motor i fitted and plugged it into the old one just to test the motor running without the mechanism - it was working fine and fuse didn't blow.

The problem HAS to be the wiper mechanism - must be seized slightly and causing just enough strain on the motor to keep blowing the fuse.

Sprayed it with a combination of WD-40 and Penetrate spray and used a lighter to heat the wiper rods to try and expand the metal slightly.

Fitted everything back as normal and done some testing and so far ...

EVERY THINGS WORKING :ohyeah:  :wiggle:

took me from 6pm - 11pm

past two days ive been driving around in the rain with no wipers - Friggin Nightmare

Now im off to Bed, wreaked ! :coffee:
