Fuel filter clips...

Post by PowerPie5000 »

How fragile are these? My fuel filter looks as though it's never been changed and i can't figure out how to release the plastic clips without breaking them .

You press them at both sides or small screwdriver, ive broken a few tbh lol
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

I was told if the clip breaks then it needs a new line fitting as the clips can't be replaced on their own... Is this true? I can see a couple of very small tabs sticking out of each clip, do i just squeeze them together and pull the fuel line out? Why do they make these cars so awkward to work with? Just changing the alternator belt was a nightmare with that engine mount in the way!

Well that was easier than i thought! I just had to blast some dirt out of the clips using a can of compressed air so that i could squeeze them properly :). I opened the fuel cap to partially depressurise the system and it worked fine as only a very small amount of petrol came out. I went with a Wix fuel filter which should hopefully last a while.

Thanks for the info :)
