Does anyone here use engine flush treatment before an oil change? There's lots of conflicting advice regarding this and i was thinking about using some before my next oil change... I assume it doesn't really matter on the brand as they all say the same thing.
Also, what oil do people use? I use 10w40 semi synthetic with my 1999 1.2 16V (X12XE), although i'm not sure what brand the garage used last as my chain started to rattle a bit after the last oil change (and the cheap oil filter had disintegrated!)... I'll be doing the oil and filters myself from now on using GM stuff.
Engine flush... To do or not to do?

Re: Engine flush... To do or not to do?
Ive never used engine because the oil has cleaning probertys in it, so i did an oil change every 1000 miles 3 times and it cleaned it out completly with out dislodging big chunks of old solid oil,
I use gm or some stuff in a green bottle oil 10w-40 with gm or wix filter, really i just use what ever opel have in stock at the time lol

If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Re: Engine flush... To do or not to do?
Is valve lifter treatment pretty much the same stuff as engine flush? I used Wynn's hydraulic valve lifter a while ago and left it in the engine (it said it was oil soluble)... One of my friends has now told me i should change the oil and filter as it's basically the same as engine flush!
Do any of you guys know if this is true? It should have said on the bottle if i needed to change the oil after using it (been in there for nearly 1000 miles now ).

Re: Engine flush... To do or not to do?
Just ordered a 5L bottle of GM 10w40 semi at a reasonable price (obviously not from Vauxhall ). The oil filter i received is a brand i've never heard of! It's made by a company called "Fujitoyo" and is supposedly OE spec (it looks ok to me). The part is FOP3301 and i can't seem to find much info about it on the net.johnny wrote:Its basicaly the same thing but alot of people say the tretment stuff is worse for the engine, id change the oil and filter anyway

The only difference i can see between this and a Wix oil filter is the shade of colour, apart from that they look and feel pretty much identical. My previous oil filter broke up and it was made by "Mann" or Mann made loljohnny wrote:Id bin that filter tbh cheap brands break up and clog up the engine, i would sugest wix if you dont want to buy gm, wix is who i use and cant fault them on any of there filters

Re: Where should i put my corsa sticker?
Not sure what filter i have in the car at the moment as the oil was last changed at a garage when they replaced the sump gasket (they discovered the previous Mann filter had collapsed/disintegrated)... The engine has been tapping ever since when idle and sometimes sounds like a diesel (can't really hear the tapping when i rev the engine). That's when i added some Wynn's hydraulic valve lifter treatment to the oil, but it didn't really change anything.johnny wrote:Mann filters are scrap imo, used to be our alternative brand at the garage and they where poo lol

The place that sent me the "Fujitoyo" filter also have brands such as Mehr, Filtron, Mann and Comline... They all sound a bit poo, or are they?
