Re: Corsa B 1999 1.2 16V "1-7-11"
thanks for the feedback.
Its all fun and games owning a corsa cause now my windscreen is cracked .. AGAIN after replacing it after a stone hit it about 2 years ago.
This time it was due to a stress crack from the cold then blasting the heat. I rang up the place to say it HAS to be a flaw and that i want discount.
Last time it cost me £120 to replace.
To top it all it happened on my birthday which was on the 9th Nov. Was planing what to spend the £100 i got, on something nice. now its going to have to go towards new windscreen.
I also rang up a local place for a Car Alarm with a Proximity sensor. Was quoted £260 for a Cobra kit fitted in about 4 Hours.
Comes with door, bonnet, boot protection, ultrasonic glass protection, immobiliser and adjustable warn away proximity alert.
Some people might say its not worth it, like the police man said about Scoob's car. But at the end of the day its what i rely on to get to work etc, more sentimental value than anything and the hassle of going out to try and buy a new car that i cant afford. it would be a disaster.

Thats a good price for the alarm imo its alot of peotection from one of the top alarm manufactures
Always think its stupid when people say theres no point getting an alarm, most that say it have a cae with an alarm and im sure if they were asked to bin because theres no point they wouldnt

Re: Corsa B 1999 1.2 16V "1-7-11"
Ok so i rang around and the best price was £110 for new windscreen,
then i thought id ring the insurance and they will do it for £75 and it wont effect my no claims.
they said my insurance might go up a very tiny amount but that generally they dont take into account windscreen damage. and if it does go up they said by that stage you will have had 4 years no claims so if anything it should go down.
then the next day they rang me up to order the glass, they wanted to know if it was clear or if it had the sun strip. i said id like to request the sun strip one and they said no we can only replace like for like. i was disappointed by that.
Still at least its getting sorted out.

Got the wind defectors back on the car.
i put a good bit of windscreen bond on them and stuck them into place and there's 3 metal clips per window. ( 6 total )
i messed up the driver side one a bit, i put the windscreen bond on both sides of the lip, was messy when i closed the window on them to test. so i have most of it scraped out with a screwdriver. going to let it Cure with the window parted slightly as i don't want to glue to two together lol.
the Passenger side was much easier after the practice of the 1st one.
Im happy there back on the car. really makes a difference i feel.

Also i got the windscreen replaced on Friday. So at least thats sorted, they guy fitting it must have knocked my windscreen wiper switch tho cause the thing was loose and i couldn't turn the wipers off ! im only after getting it fixed there now, the base of the arm was out of its mount. dono how he managed that unless he pulled on the thing.
i took some videos and pics so i can show a quickly guide of how to remove the steering panels it may or may not help someone needing to do the same work.

Re: Corsa B 1999 1.2 16V "1-7-11"
Here's the pics of the steering column parts removed it may help someone that needs to attempt it.
Simple job, undo the few screws also making sure to remove the two hidden ones hidden with a plastic screw cap next to the steering wheel, (turning the wheel helps to remove them) also remove the 3 screws holding the Speedo Clocks hood in place this helps when removing the steering column plastic sections.
The problem with my wiper switch, you can see in the bottom pic it wasn't in the brown mount properly there's two rails on the side of the switch which you can see, just had to slide it back into place.
Hope this helps someone attempting a similar job.

Re: Corsa B 1999 1.2 16V "1-7-11"
Hello to everyone on this fantastic site and especially this thread.
I have been following your progress ever since I bought my first corsa b 1.2 16v (x12xe engine) in september last year. You have done a fantastic job and nearly replaced everything on this car which, although might have been a major pain in the *** for you has turned into a gold mine of information for us.
I have been having a few problems with mine and had some parts changed: coolant sensor, thermostat, washer pump and hoses, engine knocking but since yesterday I am getting alot of juddering whilst driving and hunting. The engine light has been coming on and disappears when I rev. I have had it op-com checked by a local parts shop and there were 2 idle control valve faults recorded. The guy at the shop said it was probably a good idea to get a new throttle body and said he could get me a second hand one for £45 which has the idle control motor and tps sensor on it.
I said ok first but then after thinking about it and after having read some of your posts and this one:
http://www.corsa-b.co.uk/forum/viewtopi ... 05&t=13412
I have decided to have a go at cleaning the TB first rather than exchange it for a second hand one. Seems like a nice easy job to tackle my own. The only slight worry I have is the gasket. I think trying to source a proper throttle body gasket is going to be a nightmare. Is the liquid gasket necessary or can I get away without using one. If it is necessary, do you then just "stick" the round intake housing with the 3 torx bolts straight on top?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Corsa B 1999 1.2 16V "1-7-11"
Does anybody have the fuse layout for the corsa b 1.2 16v x12xe?
I notice you changed almost everything but not fuses. Is it possible somebody with an owners manual could scan the layout and post, please?
Update: managed to clean the throttle body and also put on a new breather hose as old one was clogged up very badly. Also replaced the idle control valve and car runs sweet. no more jerks whilst cruising or hunting, revving etc. My friend used a LAUNCH X431 DIAGUN tool to read the codes, similar to this one
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Launch-x431-D ... 1c3cb995b5
Only problem is now it is showing a 'P0443- Fuel Tank Ventilation Open Circuit' error code which it wasn't before. I am hoping that from the open circuit it is something simple like a fuse hence the fuse layout
A little research shows that it could be EVAP purge valve, AKA Evaporative emission control system. Although I have managed to locate and replace alot of the other sensors with the help of the corsa forums I can't seem to locate the canister or sensor for this. I can see a canister of some sort under the engine opposite the rad. could this be it?
Sorry for hijacking this thread. Hopefully with the addition of the above info this will become a more complete guide for people in the fututre.
