Tigra A 1.6 (X16XE, Corsa GSi)

Post by UrbanDenim »

Ok the problem started when I pulled up on my driveway, washed my car and installed an aftermarket stereo and sub.. then went to start it again.

Missfire, Tappy noise, Rough idle, Car cuts out when pressing in the clutch... All i did was wash my car and put a stereo in!?

Decided to get up the error codes for some information on where to start looking for problems.

1405 - EGR Valve
1503 - Immobiliser control unit
0200 - Injector circuit malfunction
0335 - Crank Sensor
0105 - MAP sensor

So i figured a couple of these were old ones and a couple were genuine faults.. I went ahead and replaced the Crank Sensor.. which fixed the missfire at high revs.
I then went and blocked off the EGR Valve, cleaned the throttle body and Idle Control Valve.. which fixed the missfire all together.

Now the only code coming up is 0200... The car still cuts out when pressing the clutch in coming up to a junction, it seems to be very down on power and drinking fuel badly! £5 every 4/5 miles.

I have no idea where to go from here, 0200 apparently can be linked to many things, fuel pump, crank sensor, map sensor, cam sensor, loose timing belt. But the crank sensor has been changed and I have no way of testing the map sensor short of going and buying another one. Which I really don't want to do if its not going to be the problem. I have to keep cost to a minimum as I have a child on the way. I also don't want to part with the tigra as i've only had it a couple of months and haven't driven it to its full potential yet as it was on cut springs (Now on 40mm lowering springs).

Any help guys?

Disconnect the the sensors One at a time and go for a drive each time, if a sensor is disconnected it tells the ecu to set standard settings, the eml will be on but once the dud sensor is disconnected the problem will go away and this will tell you which sensor is a dud :) my first diagnosis for the problem would have been icv or map so I'd start with map since you cleaned the icv

Thanks for the reply buddy.. So I just disconnect the MAP and go for a drive? Any specific distance or length of time?

Depends when the problem usually occurs, if it only happens when warm you'll have to wait till it's warm

In all fairness.. I did take the stereo out, put the original back in and disconnected the sub. Its the first thing I did. Then I changed the crank sensor. All the errors have gone except 0200.

I still need to disconnect the map sensor and go for a drive.

Quick question though.. The loom goes through up under the drivers side, is it possible that I could have caught one of the cables when I was drilling through the rubber piece to get the sub cable through? and which cable might I have caught?

I wouldn't think you'd have caught a wire tbh but to check just pull the grommet out and it should be easy to see if you did

Which way does it pull through? Into the car or into the engine bay?

Should do yeah:)

Its a simple way of testing most sensors, won't always work but it's a good thing to remember if something else goes wrong

Also feel free to put a project up and stick around:)

When I unplug my air temperature sensor it does nothing at all. I'm just worried about buying a map sensor and it not fixing the problem. Should I get an ATS as well just to be sure?
