Hi guys,
Not sure if this is the right section, but seemed the most suitable.
Girlfriends Corsa B needs a bit of general maintenance, and not sure on two of them.
The first being the parcel shelf. The little T hook at the end of one of the strings has come off, and both pivots are snapped. Is it easier to buy these separately and replace them myself, and if so where?
Secondly, the lights behind the speedometer etc are extremely dim. What's the best way to replace these? Been researching but found conflicting (remove steering wheel, don't remove steering wheel etc). Have replaced the MFD and heater control LEDs, just unsure on the ones for the speedo. If it helps, it doesn't have a rev counter.
It's a Corsa B, 3 door, Year 2000.
Thanks
Chris

Re: Corsa B questions
The parcel shelf clips have to be got from a scrappy or someone breaking a corsa as vaux don't make/have any left and there simple to change
The Speedo lights have a brightness adjustment wheel under the light switch, make sure it's up full

If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Re: Corsa B questions
Thanks for the swift answer guys.
Will look for scrappies near us to see if we can pick up a parcel shelf cheap enough. We got the lights from the Vauxhall dealership and asked about the shelf/shelf parts and wasn't willing to pay £12 for the string and about £20 per clip.
As for the lights, the dimmers up full. As far as we're aware they're the original lights so will be about 14 years old.
When you say remove the clock, do you mean you need to remove the MFD to gain access to the speedo?

Re: Corsa B questions
To remove the Speedo, there's three screws under the cowling and two behind the wheel, move the wheel to see them there's One at each side
Then there's three on the Speedo surround, two under it, One on the left and One to the right third needs a stumpy screwdriver and it's at the top center
There's another two screws holding the Speedo and a clip that has to be lifted up to remove it
Best way to get it out I find is to pull it out from the bottom so it's upside down and slide it out the side

Oh also, whilst I remember to ask, do I need to disconnect the battery before doing the speedo lights?

Re: Corsa B questions
No, but if putting LEDs in, make sure they work before putting back together as they only work one way

Re: Corsa B questions
Lights replaced and working, thanks for the advice guys.
One last question, just noticed that I haven't done the lights for the switch area. How do I replace these? Is it a case of taking the vent on the right hand side of the steering wheel out, taking the switch knob off and unscrewing the panel?
