Is my head gasket going?
I found some gunky residue on the oil cap and cleaned it off about a week ago, I checked this morning and it's back, is this a sign of a head gasket going?

Mayo gunk normally indicates blown head gasket, but it also happens when two brands of oil is mixed or if the car is used just on short journeys when condensation builds up
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

take it for a good long drive let it proper heat up etc bout 50 miles should do whilst driving keep an eye open for overheating or excess white fumes from exhaust, then let it cool check for lost coolant oil mixed in with coolant or sudden lose in oil level all or any one of these may point to hg failure. tho cold weather and as prev mentioned short trips will leave mayo like build up especially in 8 valvers. this is normal and nothing to worry bout.
