OP-COM OBD clone

Post by smoo »

Should I use a chinese cloned OP-COM?
I bought one off fleabay, and after a great deal of faffing about got the drivers and software installed and can read the firmware revision (1,45). But while researching I realised I had a chinese clone which OP-COM do not support, and saw warnings that it can break the ECU. :?

I've never heard of it breaking the ecu but I think you'd be better buying the official op com as it's only like 20 off Amazon
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

I find it hard to believe it can damage the ECU, but I'll wait until the next time the car goes faulty and I've got nothing to lose.
