speedos

Hi guys i need some help
ive got a problem with my Pug...the speedo is VERY dodgy....it will work after the car has been left for a cuple of days until i hit about 60 and then the needle shudders right back down to 30 and then just stops working and wont work again for the next few days
any suggestions are welcome im loosing my patience with it

ive checked all connections on the nback of the clocks and it seems ok to me.also it is an electric speedo not a cable driven one.cheers ppl.
