Took the new(er) starter off and ran some jump leads across it - the new(er) one was spinning 10x slower than the original so stuck the old one back on and she started first time! Happy days!

I don't wanna put all my eggs in one basket though so if there's any change to the above I'll keep you all posted :)

I've a similar problem now, my car doesn't start. A turn the key, in the first position i just ear a click seconde position it turns on the battery and oil red lights and motor orange light, in the 3o position it almost don't make any noise and all the light go off even the clock and date.

Please help i don't want to scrap my car but I'm loosing my mind with this.

I already tried to jump start and that didn't work.

Now even the headlights don't light up. Is it probably the battery?
Perhaps i didn't jump start the car in a correct way, I'm trying again this night.

Can it be another thing?

Where's the negative earth? Is it next to the battery?

No sorry its basically when one of the earths on your car isn't being earthed right it can cause a fault i.e the earth on the alternator might not have a good contact from rust
If it ain't green and black send it back :D

It was the battery, thank you very much. Now I just have the initial problem of losing power especially above 50mi/h.
