Corsa B removing SAI pump/valve

Right, this has been bugging me for a while.

1) Can you remove it without upsetting the ecu? (eml light being on + car running like crap)
2) Can you remove the whole thing? (or do you have to leave something connected?)
3) Will it affect the emissions? (as it pumps air into the manifold/cat for the first few minutes)

It does my head in with the whine of the pump and the bit of load on the engine for the first few minutes, plus it would tidy my engine bay up!
