Is there coolant in expansion tank? Or any mayo gunk under the oil cap?

Take it to a local garage and ask them to test the coolant oil
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

taking it to the garage tomorrow and see what's what, I know it needs a new radiator as it's leaking a little bit sometimes a lot

It's more than likely the head gasket but sniff testing the coolant is the best way to know for sure

It's a tool that you put in the expansion tank and there electrical or use a yellow fluid and it's able to detect if oil has mixed with the coolant

Ah sweet, I think the oil has mixed in with it, I opened the oil cap before and it was steaming with mayo coloured gunk on the cap too :( the coolant tanks got black sludgy crap at the bottom of it too?

http://www.blockchek.com that's it there, very cool in a geeky way

Mayo gunk isn't a definite way of telling though, you have a couple of the tells though so it probably is
