Yeah it's sweet real happy with it, tiger seal did the job, it's slightly out on the passenger side but being a replica bumper it will be . Just got to get it on the ramp in work tomorrow now drill through the sub frame and get it bolted on stop idiots from steeling it .

Cheers buddy and thanks for the advice on it, it's nice to know that even though I don't own a B anymore I'm still a part of the community with the coupe .andy w wrote:Well that's not to bad mate and only people who are picking will notice that tbh and people will rob anything these days lol

Re: Astra coupe bertone :D
Ok little update, first of all on my dinner break I decided to pull it into the valeting bay on work and flat back my headlights so got some wet/dry 2000 paper out and rubbed them down, then polished them back up with a machine polisher on a hard mop and some G3:
Before:
And after:
Next up is to get some tint film and tint them for now until I get some smoked angel eyes.
And now for the not so good one,...
I think I Have blown the clutch out, missed 4th hit 2nd at 70mph went strait into 4th since then hasn't been the same, clutch was slipping now and then and wouldn't go into gear at all, went out this morning all good, went out this afternoon and broke down whiles out in a tunnel on a 70mph road with no forward drive, coasted the car into a near by Morrisons and decided on a plan to get it home...so put it in gear engine off and started it on ignition had to limp the car home almost 7.5 miles with no clutch so that was fun in traffic and red lights..I'm hoping it's the clutch and not something more serious like the gear box...
So got it home and removed the front bumper incase it needs to be towed because the gsi bumper has no tow eye cover on it.
I managed to get some heat proof calliper paint off a friend of mine to use as a base cost for the yellow after the mrs dropped me up her house to get it, originally on my way there when the clutch went:
So let that dry for half an hour and layer down some yellow, forgot to take a picture while it was light so apologise for these being a bit dark:
Comments welcome .

Re: Astra coupe bertone :D
Ok so update here guys, went out and bought a new three piece clutch kit. Arranged to get it fitted this afternoon.
So spent this morning giving my callipers another coat:
And with the wheel back on:
Then this afternoon went to go get the new clutch fitted so to begin just a little pic, I didn't take many sorry guys was covered in oil and muck:
So began to strip it all off ready to remove the box and found this;
Yeah that's a broken gear box mount that's shifted the engine about 4 inches or so down but ain't Hurd any knocks or banging around, it's obviously been gone for some time but being underneath the battery tray I couldn't see it.
So on the stripping the rest of the car...all off job done and get to the clutch...now I've blown some in my time but you'll find this is pretty Impressive:
An old vs new
So replaced it put it all back together and spent best part of 40 minutes bleeding the clutch. Well let's just say it refuses to go into gear, it went in eventually with a little force and the noise coming from the thrust bearing was horrendous! Wouldn't go back in so I'm going on the assumption that the new bearing is crap, it's completely different to the old one, it's spring loaded where as the old one is incased in a rubber surround.
So all coming back off tomorrow putting the old back in and put it all back together and hope this sorts it..started it at 1:30pm finished about 9:15pm...Not best pleased but there we go, joys of motoring.

All sorted my mate stripped it back out while I was in work today and sorted it.
Where he put the thrust bearing in yesterday he didn't tighten it up properly rushing to get the car done for work at 5, so he's tightened it up and rang to say it's all sorted and working fine.
So off to pick her up now and hopefully all is well

I bet that's one mistake you won't make twice mate! But I was gonna ask ya, was the clutch going anyway prior to your missed-change?

Re: Astra coupe bertone :D
To be fair that might not be clutch tho, not 100%, only reason I ask is that clutch is shattered! Aint seen one like that for a long time.. on a Ford Ka actually when some dame slowed down on a motorway slip road from 5th to 2nd, but she was going to fast and pulled the clutch straight out, no balancing or anything.Harkus wrote:No defo not pal, not that I know of no mate, was starting to get a little difficult to go into 1st gear but that's about it
So to sum up this post, you've drove like a woman. Hang your head in shame [jokes mate!]
