if you look in this section (mechanical and electrical) theres a post \'carb cleaning\' J1400 describes how to clean this quite well.
haynes manual is handy tho.
use carb cleaner- availible at all motor shops
£182.68? for a new idle control valve itself, poo thats loads! ive never known anyone actually having to change it before tho.

i had a similar problem where it was idling funny, but it was a stepper motor, think that was £100 or so, cant really remember. just kept revving really high. was a bitch!

will do, might take a while as car isnt gonna be ready for PVS i dont think, also my engines a vectra. but its more or less the same, i blame induction kits for clogging up the valve

least with 8v engines you dont have to dismantle nearly all the inlet manifold to get to it
damn 16v engines & there pesky ICV location

All the above comments are deemed an opinion, and in most cases

PaulW, can you tell me where/how I would get to the ICV? If it just needs cleaning and abit of WD40, even if its a temporary fix, I can do this myself
