reading fault codes (paperclip test)

hi all, back with another question i can't makes head nor tail of,

corsa 1.6 16v (W reg - 2000) i'm getting poor mpg and the car shudders a bit at tick over so wanted to look at any possible fault codes.

have looked up via google, and having the 16 pin connection in fuse box, bridged pin 5 & 6, now i only appear to get codes when i start the engine, first off it gives around 120 flashes without pausing, then around 70, this just doesn't seem to relate to what i expected to be getting (4 digit code)

anyone give me some direction or make sense of what i'm getting, can upload a vid if it helps, thanks,

secondly, are the gadgets available on ebay suitable to plug in and simply get a read out, as that would be easier.

You can buy Bluetooth diagnostic things off eBay and buy the torque app for your phone

Yeah I don't know how good they are but I've heard good and bad reviews, most of the bad reviews are from people that have or used proper diagnostic computers so that's to be expected tbh

If you plan on keeping the car for a year+ opcom will pay for itself 10x's over but if you plan on moving away from vaux torque is worth a punt for all it costs

no luck with the bluetooth adapter, fails to read ECU, will get the opcom, they're available on ebay for £18, is this likely to be genuine or am i buying cheap and likely to get an inferior copy?

Depends on the seller, there's genuine ones on Amazon for about 20 quid

i did find an app that could read the bluetooth adapter (ScanMyOpel-Lite) but the required full version was £7 and had already ordered the OpCom.

Am disappointed to find no fault codes, so not sure what all he flashing relates to when doing the paperclip test.

Can read various paramenters, guess i can look into those online and see how they compare to what should be normal.

main issues are poor mpg and car shakes like an old diesel at tick over, am losing coolant with no visible leaks so maybe the head gasket is leaking.
