Engine vacuum

Does anyone no what the name is for the little black box which has vacuum hoses attached to it and an electronic connector on it. It comes on the 8v engines any help would be appreciated and what its actual job/purpose of it can post a pic if u need to see what i mean :)

I'm not sure what that is Tbh :lol: is there a part number on it? I should be able to look up what it is

Will ave a look mate i can remember it is some type of valve cus i used them to work a dump valve on my rover lol

Haha no mate remember been told when i did it they can fail. The only codes johnny is 199 then underneath its 0257p2 one of the lines says to can whatever that means and what is behind the arch on the drivers side cus my Astra side light wont push in properly cus its in the way

Neither of them numbers are registering as vauxhall part numbers :(

You sure there's nothing else wrote on it?

What are you doing with it anyway?

Found it mate its a pcv and i think mines packed in from what ive read its doing it to the engine so need to swap it asap

I read this and my engine has the same symtoms so will change for another in the scrap yard tomoz after work but i am wondering if it cud make the eml come on thinking the egr is faulty

Well the ecu on the 8v is known to tell lies since it was sorta vauxhalls beta test

I'd swap it out anyway just to be safe

That's my thorts mate tbh cant remember seeing it on the error codes list so it cud be the reasoning for the error to begin with when ive ran it with the new pcv for a few days i will repost my findings

Yep ive done a paper clip test and put it on an opcom mate came up with different codes

So update so far stripped the positive crank ventalation (pcv) valve off my car and yep its caput :( the inlet was completely blocked with carbon and there isn't no rattle from it like there should be so looks like a trip to find one me thinks
