My corsa has failed its MOT due to the steering having tight spots, its lumpy and the torque sensor causes the wheel to favour the left.
I have tried to tweek the torque sensor but i cannot get to one bolt as there is a ruddy big bit of metal in the way, so how can i go about fixing this?
should i replace the entire steering column with a new or nearly new one with the torque sensor, replace the column with a un-power assisted one or can i simply get around this whole problem by taking the fuse out and whipping out the bulb behind the warning light near the speedo????

Re: Steering
Think the torque sensor won't be that cheap
If you want a quick cheap fix fit the non power column
But you should be able to the power unit second hand in working order
Can you not get on it using just a bit and turn it with a spanner

Re: Steering
i tried putting the bit in the with the aid of the spanner, but there isnt enough dearence around the only nut. I am awfully tempted to put a non power column on it, as a fix

Re: Steering
sounds a plan. The question is, where can one source a non power assisted column?

Re: Steering
Why not just pull the fuse, remove the pas light and fit an old steering wheel and tell the tester you fitted an old colum
It's a hell of alot less work
It's a hell of alot less work
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway
