Corsa B high idle

Post by tmccar »

My Corsa B is running at a high idle most of the time and the accelerator seems a bit "sticky". It is also a bit "jumpy" in that when you take your foot off the accelerator, it's like applying the brake (the revs fall off rapidly). And when idling, it's as if somebody is pressing the accelerator, then releasing it, constantly.

Sounds like the idle control valve imo

Is the EML on
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Hi - yes, the EML is on.
Where is the idle control valve located?

You just have 3 screws holding the black intake and then another there holding the idle valve in
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Yeah that's the one but it's a very cheap copy so it might not last that long

Thanks Johnny - my EML light has been on for several months now and if that fixes it I will be well pleased.

Well I fitted the new one and the EML light is still on, unfortunately.

Anyway, I no longer have the high idle which is great, but I have another problem - it will hardly idle at all, and the engine cuts out at traffic lights etc.
