Aftermarket stereo date

Hi, im new to this furum.

I have an aftermarket stereo : JVC KD-R421

When i put the front panel back on, the date on the dash goes and when i remove the front panel it come back?

What could be causing this?

I have a Corsa LS 1994 3 Door 1.4l

Its because the standard oem head unit displays the radio station etc up there, there is a wire you can snip to make it display date all the time.
