So earlier the clutch cable slipped off the pedal, I have reconnected it and the pedal has returned to normal position, but now when I press the clutch all the way down and the engine is started it won't go into first or any gear. But yet the clutch pedal has tension and bounces back up when you let it go.

My mate came round and had a look and he reckons the clutch cable has stretched. And also the housing where the cable connects to the pedal is knacked so off to scrappy when I get time
