Engine and mods
I have a 1.4 8v and I am just wondering if anyone knows and good parts to put on. I have seen one guy on youtube with motorbike cabs on his 1.0L and I have to say it was sounding sweet but is that a professional job or do you think someone of limited experience can do it?

Re: Engine and mods
All depends how deep your pockets are tbh
You can start with the exhaust 4-2-1 manifold sports cat free flow exhaust derestrict the air box fit a panel filter
Then its cams head work good inlet manifold
You can spend big money
It would be cheaper to buy a car with a bigger engine

Re: Engine and mods
I see what your saying about a bigger engine and I have seen a corsa with the v6 out of I think a omega which is some what of a dream lol but I have a soft spot for the corsa and have done since being a kid I think when there all smoothed out they look class. And I am planning on a de cat and hopefully the full exhaust system should be ordered in two weeks and I already have a induction kit I was thinking more along the lines of a new carb or something like that

Re: Engine and mods
I have the 8v engine but its looks a bit old and passed it. I was thinking of a 16v i have seen a few for sale but none with the loom. How easy is it to do? And should i bother as i read the 16v is not as reliable. But as the engine is now (which is not 100%) i dragged with my mate's mg zr and he only just had me.

Re: Engine and mods
Its a lot of work its not just the loom and ecu its a chip and transponder as well unless you bypass it it would be easier to buy a 16v car but it can be done if your any good with the spanners

Re: Engine and mods
He has a 1.4 8v andy
And as coupe said going from non immobilised to immobilised is abit awkward, but you can go a c16se which has 100hp and is basically as straight a swap as engine conversions come
Rsidan might be selling his

If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Re: Engine and mods
Oh ye haha dunno y I thought it was a 1.2 but still mg pushed alot of power from the k series engines but never sorted the head problems out it was the same issue with these as the old renault 5 gt turbos but the corsa is alot more easier to upgrade

Re: Engine and mods
You would have been surprised the old b gave the mg a good go in first and low end of second but then my mates mg pulled lol but mine is a standard engine with a hole in the exhaust and a oil leak but for £200 i can't complain. I'm not looking for speedy fast otherwise I'd get a bigger car but i have been looking just to bump up the power and there is not much for my engine which is a shame coz the body on it is good it was a motorway car so not much damage paint work is shot but no rust so a new engine is a possibility and i'm not afraid to tackle it just ain't got the first idea how lol if the engine has the same mounts and bolts in the wiring and stuff doesn't bother me.
