Wheel balancing

Post by Barraclough »

Is a shakey steering wheel at high speed a sign the wheels need balancing? It happens the second I reach 75mph

But the speed limit is 70 :o:  yeah it's normally the balance is off
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Finally got them balanced last week and it sorted the problem. They put the weights on the outside of the wheels opposed to how they did it on my old wheels by putting them on the inside. Can I request for them to be on the inside next time to keep them looking tidy?

Weights shouldnt be on the outside of a rim. They corrode after awile and make the rims look horrible. I would remove them asap and get stick on weights put on.

My steels have the weights on the outside but most will put them on the inside if you ask them to
If it ain't green and black send it back :D

Steelies are ment to have the weights on the outside alloys have them inside, like stance said the weight on the outside will react with an alloy
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Lazy tyre fitters imo. It takes abit more effort putting stick on weights as apposed to hammer ons.

They never did it on the Corsa wheels so I don't get why they did it this way on these.

Could have been out of sticky weights or couldn't get them to stick

If you go back and ask for stick on weights I'm sure they'll do it
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

A good place will always balance alloys on the inside rim only weather it's stuck on or the knock on

If it's heavy on the inside you have to balance the outside though
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway
