Thanks, Buddy

I've got the X18XE1 in there now. Should comfortably make more power than the old 1600 8v, but I only need it to give me around 65kw on the wheels to stay in class regulation.

I need to have it ready by 8 Feb for the inspection and dyno day. First race is 21 Feb

Good day's work done today

Most of yesterday's graft was in preparation for today...

Paint!

My buddy getting busy

All done

The paint as applied is actually stunning already. I will obviously still flat and polish, then it should look amazing.

Tomorrow I'll set about putting the handbrake lever back again, finish up the centre console, and maybe getting the seats in the way I want them. If the paint is ready for it by Monday, I'll flat and polish...

Then it's assembly time again - woohoo!

Today's update

Didn't flat and polish today, as I felt the paint was not quite ready for it yet. Got busy with other bits in the meantime.

Fitted the oil cooler

Also fitted the remote oil filter housing, fitted and wired in the oil pressure and oil temperature sensors.

I still need the pipes to be made up for the cooler and whatnot, but I seriously doubt I'll find anybody still open this time of the year. Will just have to wait a bit...

Put the centre console back in place, and connected most of it. Just need to finish the ignition panel and then the wiring should be all done

Saw this today, had to have it lol

So today I did the flat and polish thing. Came out pretty good. It's not a showroom finish, but that does not bother me one bit - it's a racecar

Thanks to Polony's advice I managed to find a place to do the hoses for the oil cooler. Decided to go with the steel braided teflon hose, so I first brought everything home to get the lengths and angles perfect. Tomorrow morning the hoses go back to get the fittings crimped. Also found a suitable oil filter for the setup

Fitted the tail lights and rear bumper stiffener. Tomorrow I can fit the bumpers, fender trims etc - gonna start looking like a car now haha

No pics today - will take a good couple tomorrow

Fairly busy day today.

Picked up my hoses nice and early, and proceeded with fitting them.

Then got busy putting the rest of the car together.

So that's where it's at now.

The to-do list is finally getting shorter

Seriously needs stickers now...

I really like the blue on white :) have you an idea of a design for the stickers or are you sponsored?
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Sadly I don't have any sponsors yet.

No idea on sticker designs yet - very open to suggestions [emoji106]

So I'm back from holiday and busy on the cab again. Spent most of today sorting an issue out with the oil cooler setup - think it's sorted now. Then also fitted the new springs - stance looks way better.

While on holiday I showed pics of the car to my mate, and said to him I need to do something bout the appearance as it looks a bit out of sorts. He gave me an idea and I love it! Certainly not gonna be a theme I've seen on a car ever before. Don't want to give it away, but it's a quirky cartoon character that is certainly gonna give my age away - it originated the same year that I was born lol

Free ride around the track to whoever guesses it right - just get to the track :D
