I'll have to try this petrol trick, the hairdryer I have isn't that good, should probably invest in a heat gun at some point

It also helps for de-tarring. Halfords sell 'sticky stuff remover' which is meant to be top stuff.

I found a heat gun and a old bank card works quite well aswell as using bug and tar remover from halfrauds

Silver Corsa B

Post by TheFinnMill »

Done a few things over the last week, new exhaust, alloys, bonnet bra and wrapped the roof black. I know not everybody is keen on bonnet bras but as it covers the awful attempt at the fix the last owner tried I'm happy with it. Image
Not happy in the slightest with the roof wrap so will need to be redone but for now it'll do. Image
Image Love the wheels as they are! Image
Image Need lowering springs and a few little bits and for exterior work I'll consider it done.

Hooks on can be awkward to get off sometimes though
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Also swapped out my air filter box for a mushroom filterImage

Also messed about editing a picture of the rear, tinting the rear lights ImageImage 100% doing that as soon as I can, along with Alloys after Christmas, thinking Cav slabs or Expressions, not too sure yet, want to wrap my roof in black, wind deflectors, new steering wheel and thinking about Astra GSI bonnet vents but also not too sure

toffee wheel from ebay.

I done mine with a heat gun and plastic fishing wire to remove the bump strips, then used polish compund and a clean rag to rub hard. anything that was left used toffee wheel to clean it off then another polish.

Oh and who knows what the mark underneath is? Is there anyway to get rid of it?

That's condensation under the lacquer, you can try get rid of it with a heat gun but it won't go with out sanding and re painting

Yeah it's condensation as Johnny said! I had the exact same on my C and I used a heat gun and it was all gone and clear in no time and it looks perfect [emoji106]

I think it's about time for an update, not done much recently, been quite busy with other things but firstly, ordered a new radiator and got that fittedImage
Old one had a nice hole inImage also bought some stickers to take your eye away from where the bump strips wereImage
I also bought a little C'mon toy, my car now has a mascot!Image I have also colour coded the wing mirrors, black just looked cheap and tacky in my eyes Image Now since I bought the car I've had a new battery, I say new, it was stolen out of my mums old car when she wrote it off, the old battery never had life in it and this one was working fine, until recently when it's not holding chargeImage Is this because it's sat there and the battery is having build up on the plates inside or is it coming from something else, it jump starts fine and runs fine Aswell.
I've also seen a cheap B up the road from me, he wants £350 but the MOT has just ran out and it's been for sale since October, in serious consideration to buy it, I have no place to store it but I wouldn't mind two projects at the same time! Image
Anyway, next on the list is get the starting problem sorted and get some welding done on it and then send it for its MOT!

Just a small update, started stripping out all the old interior as it was dirty, stained and damp from being sat in my garage for so long
Image
I've also ordered some Seats, Red Buckets. Image
I was going to get a new steering wheel as well but it's out of stock the one I want, getting my self booked in for a tattoo then with what money I have after that I'll buy harnesses, fit a false floor and hopefully have enough left for some 60mm springs.
I also stopped off last night at halfords on my way home, always a mistake, come away every time with something I had no intention in buying, but as my speakers are in awful condition I invested in some new ones.Image
