Clock/date lights being funny?

Post by bensligomcnair »

I recently took apart the headlight switch housing and since then the clock/date/temp display only works whenever the headlights/sidelights are switched off...it works perfectly and then there's no lighting all when ext lights are switched on..I've dismantled the housing a few times to see if I put it back together incorrectly but I haven't found anything to be out of place...someone have any help thanks

Any of the wires loose maybe?

Obviously a wire is loose/damaged but the only way to find it is to inspect it
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Its called the illumination wire so that might help if you find a diagram

Tracing that wire from the mfd back won't be easy though

I'll check my wiring diagrams tomorrow to see if it gives the pin no.
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

I seen a diagram for the mfd but if you had a diagram for the headlight switch it might match up. They would hardly be the same color??

Might be a very stupid suggestion, but you never know.. have you accidentally dimmed it using the dimmer under the headlight switch? Turn it all the way to the right and then try.. I'm just checking you know it's there as it confused the crap out of me when I first got mine as I thought mine was broken too

Forgot to check today  I'll have a rummage through the folders I have in the garage and see if I have anything though :)

Is 3 a ground. 6 for when the headlights are on and 7 the illumination wire??

They're the wires I'd be interested in anyway
Drive it like you stole it

That's about all I can do for you unfortunately, you'll just have to inspect the wires to try find the fault
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway
