i have just bourght a Corsa Merit 1996
and seeing that the aerial on the car is snapped and the factory fitted model is a radio only stereo i decided to upgrade it. I disconnected the old one (would power up just no signal). And i had a choice between 2 kenwood cd players so decided to see which would fit after connecting everything there was no power and i have tryed to find a solution online but to no avail.
Also a friend said i could just take a live from the cigarette lighter but there is no cigarette lighter fitted and its capped off.
Any help please?

Do you have access to a multi meter?
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Re: No power to New cd player
Are you using an ISO lead? Is it new or used? Could be a bad connection in the lead
If youve got a multimeter test the fuse as although not blown can sometimes degrade/corrode and need replacing (had this several times on 12v and higher voltages.
If you have an mdf (clock, date etc on too if dash) there is an ignition live behind there you can use.
Is the new stereo unit itself fused? Probably a small fuse in the back of it my last one and new one has it.. Check that fuse also.
If you've got a multimeter you can test between the connection for the stereo and an earth and find out if the problem is with the wiring or with the new stereo unit.

Re: No power to New cd player
Fuse in the stereo is most likely a mini blade fuse btw miniature version of the fuses in your fuse box if that helps you find it
