Best engine to tune
what would be the best engine to tune, out of a 1.4 sport/sri, 1.6 sport/gsi and a 2l 8v, using throttle bodies, but bearing in mind, the cost of tuning, realibility, weight, and best gains
im think the 2l 8v would be but i would like opinions please

i think the 1.6 is good as its lighter weigh and tends to go a fiar bit faster then the 2l

im just guessing on the basis of power to weight ratio, but i believe it\'d be the GSI. 2l 8v would eventually catch up on a straight tho. why u ask? you already have a 2litre?

2lt 8v is a fa inferior engine to the 1.6 16v, all imo obviously, and im a little bias!
1.6 16v on tbs with few other mods can be had to 175bhp of useable realistic power

where did you hear this??
Out of those th ehighest potential out put engine is the 1.6, although as the 1.4 hares the same head if you rev\'d it enough you\'d have the same potential, as it\'s based on valve area.
the 2L 8v is all weight and lacks power, this is based on a like for like budget.
But if you\'re goign to the trouble of a 2L then 16 valves are the better option, unless you want to be \"different\" small 16v Turbo\'s are rare, but that\'s for a cost reason
