i saw a car with tints like that yesterday. your better off asking how legal they are when you get them done.
also if a cop tells you to pull your tints off at the side of the road make sure they do one of those tests to check how much light they let thru as untill one of those tests have been done they cant leagally make to remove the tints, and they\'ve gotta show you the readout that says there too dark too.

the car i saw had them on front and back side windows and the rear screen. personally i think having tints just on the back 3 or lighter tints on the front than the back makes it look cheap and nasty

If the copper does one of the tests on your car and it comes back illegal, ask them nicely to do it on there own car too....... a few friends of mine have done this and found the machine to be faulty as it comes back saying the coppers car is illegal too..... if you ask them nicely they shouldnt have a problem with it.

i like the sound of that, you could say \'just out of interest can you do it on your car\' and if they say no, refuse to pull them off and go to court, id give it a go! :lol:

Thats wrong, check out the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986.

Section 32 states

Light Transmission of Glazing - Summary of requirements
Motor vehicles first used between 1/6/1978 and 31/3/1985 must have windows which allow at least 70% of light to pass through. Motor vehicles first used on or after 1/4/1985 must have windscreens which allow at least 75% of light to pass through - all other windows must admit at least 70% of light.

These requirements do not apply to:

any part of the windscreen outside the vision reference zone (as defined in C&U# Regulation 32(13));

windows through which the driver is unable, at any time, to see the road;

windows in ambulances which are behind the drivers seat;

windows in buses, goods vehicles, locomotives or motor tractors which are behind the drivers seat (except those which face the rear - as defined by C&U# Regulation 32(12) - or which form all or part of an exterior door); and

windows in cars which are fitted behind the drivers seat and which bear an e mark indicating type approval to the European glazing Directive 92/22/EC.

Basically in English, this tells you to black however much you want to on the rear 3 windows, and then medium tint on the front 2 windows. If you go any darker than medium tint, your car will be illegal. The place near to where i took my car is called G-force (probably all heard of it) and they advice for you to put medium in the front, and promise it to be legal, and if it isnt they pay the fine for you.

\"Window Tints

As of January 1st 2004, new legislation was brought in that prohibits window tinting.

The Law:

You are not allowed to tint your windscreen or front windows AT ALL. Anything forward of the B pillar (middle of the car) MUST NOT be tinted in anyway. You are however still allowed to perform any level of tinting on your back windows.

If you\'ve tinted you windows before January that does not mean that you are safe, if the police believe that your tint causes reduced visibility they can issue you with an order to have it removed.

Why was this law brought in?

The reason this law was introduced was that there was a serious accident between a motorbike and a heavily modified car with very dark tints. It was believed that the root cause of the accident was that the driver couldn\'t see well enough through his tinted windows.
