For the time, money and effort involved, the best thing you can do is transplant a 2.0 16v engine.

Your engine\'s not designed to go fast.

If it\'s the single point engine, then converting it to the MPi engine will make the car seem much faster.

Are you looking at doing it yourself? What\'s your mechanical skills like? Can you take the car off the road for any period of time?

As James has said, going to the MPi will make a difference, but it\'s still an engine out job.

I would prefere not to do an engine transplant just yet as the insurnace would probably kill me but if thats the only way i guess it\'s gunna have to be.

My machanical skills are so so, i have learnt most things off my dad as he used to be a machanic but i have a couple of mates that are machanics by trade so they\'ll help no doubt.

In that case you shouldn\'t have any problems with the XE conversion.

Buy yourself a complete MTech conversion kit from LMF - don\'t bother machining hubs, using shafts from a 1986 Cavalier Mk2 in Red with a limited edition wiper blade... just get the decent kit.

In total, expect to pay around £1500-2000 which will cover all the little parts that add up.

You\'d need the head, inlet injectors loom ecu and other sensors, it works out cheaper and less time to just buy a complete c14se engine to do the job, I have one in myu shed takign up space if anyone interested.
